Research Interests This summer (2020), I am working with Prof. Miaki Ishii on the relative timing issue of analog stations. During the 1900s to the 1960s, there was no technology like GPS timing to ensure the synchronization of data across analog stations in different regions. Each station had its own clock which can drift for a few seconds or even a few minutes from the standard time. And errors in the timing of stations can lead to errors in earthquake location and seismic tomography, etc. Our goal is to use the phase picks information from analog stations of events from the 1900s to the 1960s on International Seismological Center to calculate the relative time between stations. |
